Our Words on Wheels Program provides access to library materials for homebound City of Seaside residents.

This free service delivers library materials to residents in assisted living facilities. Material types include:

  • Print books – regular or large print

  • Audio books on CD

  • Playaways

  • DVDs

  • Use one of following options:

    • Complete the online application to apply and submit your request for service.

    • Print application and fill in requested information. Return to the Seaside Public Library or mail to:

    WOW Program
    Seaside Public Library
    1131 Broadway
    Seaside, OR 97138

    • Ask for an application at the Seaside Public Library.

  • City of Seaside residents may use this service if they reside in an Assisted Living Facility such as:

    • Neawanna By The Sea

    • Suzanne Elise

    • Avamere at Seaside

    • Indicate your reading preferences on the application form so we can provide you with the materials you want.

    • Let staff and volunteers know if you liked the materials you received by completing a Reader's Rating form, which is provided with each delivery.

    • You can also request specific library materials by calling the library at (503)738-6742.

    • WOW volunteers deliver library materials on Wednesdays – you can have the materials for a month.

    • Return items to the drop off location (lobby, office, social room, etc.) by the prearranged delivery day and time.

    • Pick up new items (labeled with your name) in the same location after the monthly deliver day and time.

    • Call (503)738-6742 for renewal requests. As long as there are no holds on the item, it will be renewed.

    • No overdue fines will be charged to "WOW" patrons, but patrons will be notified of any overdue items on their library account.

    • If an item gets lost or damaged while in your care, you would be charged for the replacement cost for the item.

    • Lost items will cause the patron to have privileges suspended.  Items will be considered lost after 60 days.

      • First lost/misplaced item – loss of privileges for 30 days.

      • Second lost/misplaced item – loss of privileges for 60 days.

      • Third lost/misplaced item – loss of privileges for 90 days.

      • More than three lost/misplaced items will result in loss of WOW privileges for 6 months.

    • Privileges will be restored if the patron wishes to pay for the lost item/items.

  • If you are unable to use print resources ask us about another free service — the Talking Books and Braille Library. The State Library of Oregon offers the Talking Book and Braille Library to any Oregon resident who is print-impaired, which includes visual, physical, and reading impairments. For more information, call (800) 452-0292 or visit TalkingBooks.Oregon.gov.
