The library displays art exhibits in the Community room and Lobby. We also have a permanent collection that may be found throughout the library. Art @ The Library Beginning November 4th, 2023 and running through January 2nd, 2026, the Seaside Public Library will host “Quilts of Many Colors,” an art show featuring the work of nine local quilt artists. The quilts will be hanging in the Community Room and foyer and represent a variety of styles and techniques. This show features quilts from artists Cherry Harris, Toni Tweedle Healy, Jan Surbrook, Katie Paaso, Lynda Newell, Judy Carder, Karen Hurd, Janice Schock, and Caroline Peterschmidt. This is all about building a lifelong love of books. I haven’t signed up for Summer Reading. Can I still come to the events? Yes! All Summer Reading events are FREE for everyone! We do encourage you to register and get your FREE book just for signing up! How long do programs and events last? We aim for 60-minute programs, but sometimes programs run slightly shorter or longer. How are prizes awarded? Every time you turn in a completed reading log to the library, you will be entered. Your completed reading log is your prize entry. Reading Log (PDF) Read for Service Dogs Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) prepare highly qualified guide dogs to empower the blind or visually impaired. GBD services not only improve mobility for their clients, but foster further inclusion in the world around them. All services are provided free of charge for their clients. A donation will be made upon reaching our community goal of reading 500 hours!

The Seaside Public Library Joins One Book, One Coast, the West Coast’s Largest Book Club Connecting Communities Across Three States. This spring, the Seaside Public Library invites the community to take part in One Book, One Coast, a shared reading initiative connecting more than 130 library systems across California, Oregon, and Washington. As the largest book club on the West Coast, One Book, One Coast brings readers together around one book to create opportunities for conversation, reflection, and meaningful connection across neighborhoods, cities, and state lines. The Seaside Public Library and its partners will read and discuss They Called Us Enemy by George Takei, Steven Scott, and Justin Eisinger, and illustrated by Harmony Becker. The library has multiple copies of the book available to borrow. Unlimited digital copies of the eBook will be available from April 1 - June 6 through our digital platform. And thanks to the generous support of the Seaside Library Friends & Foundation , 25 copies of the book are available to the community free of charge to take, read, share, and then keep or return to the library for other members of the community to enjoy. Through this shared reading experience, communities are encouraged to explore themes of identity, patriotism, family, loyalty, and resilience while strengthening connections through dialogue and learning. From April 1 through June 6, unlimited digital copies of the eBook in English and Spanish will be available through the Libby app by OverDrive. The Seaside Public Library will also offer several book discussion opportunities and a family craft program designed to bring community members together in conversation.
